What's up guys? I am new here but I have been watching for a while now. I am almost 100% sure I'll be joining the EB family soon and can't decide between a Luke and Silhoutette Special with maple board and a Hss config. Can you guys tell me which of the two has a thicker neck? Also if you guys can post as many pics as you can I love to see them to help me pic a color as well.

Welcome to this fine place!

Well - the new guy get's an answer ;)

Both the Luke and the Silhouette Special feature "quite" thick necks, its just that the Luke's neck has a V shape (which you might find strange to the hand when firt trying one out) that is great to play. The Silhouette Special has a somehow beefy neck - wide enough, thick enough, but never too much of it. IMHO "they" at EBMM just created one of the finest necks around today...
..well, actually fitted to one of the finest guitars around today, too :D

Have a look at the link in my signature - there's some pics of my 2 Silo Specials around. For the Luke - sorry, no material from me, but have a look at the PICS OF MY GUITAR thread - there is sheer beauty in there!

Have fun around here and get your hands on some balls !

I think the Luke neck (the ones I've played) feels very small in comparison to the other EBMM necks. Both are great guitars. I just prefer the feel and tone of the Silo Spec. I imagine I will own a Luke at some point.

well ive owned the two guitars you want, plus i hae silo special with rosewood fretboard, ive found the maple silo to have a slightly thinner neck and the luke to be bigger due to the V. my rosewood board silo special seems like it has a thicker neck to me, could be just the rosewood though adding some beef to the feel.

of course, theres a difference between thin/thick or bigger/smaller necks....

great choices though!

Welcome to the forum!
I can post any pics you'd like. I just need you to narrow down some of you preferred colours. :)

Let me first say thanks for all the replys, keep them coming. I just found out thanks to the awsome guys in customer service at EB that there is a store about 45 min from me with some Lukes so if I get a chance I'll be taking a drive to play one soon. That LV Gold is awsome. A few years ago when I first thought about getting an EB that was on of my fav colors. I also liked the burnt apple neither of which I can get any more. As of right now I think I am looking into White, Graphite Pearl, Egyptian Smoke and Desert Gold.

I would say that out of the two, the silo special is the safest choice for ordering blind, but I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed anyway :D

WOW! Thanks for the pics. My wife thinks I should go for one of the colors that really pops when you first see it. If I go for the SS I think I'll be getting it in Desert Gold as far as the Luke goes I am still up in the air. Some colors just seem to look better with a pg. Do any of you know if the SS was ever made in that awsome bronze color that EB no longer offers?
