They say GameTank (makers of Guitar Rising) will be in San Francisco at the Game Developer Conference to viist Gizmodo and show off the product.

I listen to the local classic rock station (WZLX) and my sister will be in the car. From time to time I hear her yell out, "NICK, NICK, I KNOW HOW TO PLAY THIS SONG ON GUITAR HERO!!!". I always find that funny.

Although not nearly as good as joining a band, making friends and learning interplay with the other musicians; I'd say this is a much better idea than Guitar Hero. Something to do to liven up practicing by yourself.
