Ok, I have a question. I have been reading about setting up the pets on here quite a while now. Even though mine has been fine, I have been trying to educate myself for when that dreaded day would come. Some of what I read I have understood. However, most of what I have read has been like chinese to me. Well, to make a long story short, that dreaded day came early last week. That is correct...less then a week before my first show with this guitar!
Early in the week, I noticed some buzzing from the open strings to the 3rd fret. That faq said to give relief to the neck...which I assumed to mean adjust the trussrod. So, here is what I did. In a sitting position, I inserted an allen wrench in the wheel and gave it 1/4 of a turn towards me. I let it sit for a few minutes, tuned and the buzzing was much better. There is still a little lite buzzing, but you really have to strain to notice it. As far as playing goes, it felt pretty good. I could tell that the action felt a little higher, but it is definately still very playable.
My question is, am I on the right track with this? Did I turn the wheel the correct way? Should I give it another little turn, or should I be turning it the other way (away from me)? If you setup gurus on the board are thinking to yourselves "this guy is a moron", well, when it comes to setting up a guitar, I won't dispute that one with you. On the upside, at least I am making an effort to change that. Any help, advice, or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
