Hello everyone,

I haven't posted here in quite a while as I have been mainly into amps over the past few years (solved that GAS with the purchase of a Thunderfunk and Ampeg V4BH).

Anyway, I generally play P basses since they seem to work well with my attack in a band situation. A few years back I picked up a Sub 4 from GC and besides changing out the pickguard to a black one, I only used it a few times at practices and played at home with it.

The other night I brought it out to a gig-at first the tone was kind of buried, but then I adjusted my amp eq somewhat (as it is set up for Fenders). WOW! Killer growl that was warm and fat. Treble all the way down for classic rock, up maybe 1/4 for modern stuff. Bass on full. Volume on full. Sounded out of this world.

Loved it to the point where I immediately had GAS for a 30th Anniversary Stingray which I liked when they came out but never thought too much about since. Came here for some edumacation and now...there is a second EB instrument headed my way. Can't wait!

Report and pics when it arrives.

Yes-I loved the look of the 30th, but never found one locally to check out. The SUB sounded great and I am getting old LOL!

I figured I could off a few basses to justify the purchase. Plus, the feedback I found here really helped move along the GAS for the 30th.

I am keeping the SUB though too.

I own one of the 30th Anniversary StingRays, they are the most superb bass I've ever played. They are stunningly beautiful, and they have that signature Stingray sound, but something about the Mahogany body makes the 30th's a little more '' punchy '' than the standard Stingrays.

Congrats on that bass, you will LOVE it!

Oh-I can't wait. In the meantime, the Sub is coming out to my next gig, and will continue to be on the list...
