Late November 2005: As a combined birthday/christmas/my wife spoils me gift, I order the black cherryburst / maple / matching headstock SR5 of my dreams. A couple days after the order, my salesguy was able to give me a predicted delivery date of 2/10/06. Not so bad, I knew I would have to wait and I know it will be worth it.
February 6, 2006: comes and knowing that delays happen and a lot can change in 3 months I call my guy back up to make sure we're still on schedule and he says we are. On the 9th, my wife and I celebrate bass-day-eve, and I try desperately not to get too attached to the idea that I would have a new bass the next day. It didn't work...
Morning, February 10, 2006, bass-day: My wife calls GC to make sure bass-day has truly arrived and is informed that the new scheduled date is February 14th. DOH!!!! Disappointment starts to set in. We're headed by the store on our way to see the musical at our former college so maybe… just maybe… it will come today anyway. We'll call again when we get up that way.
Afternoon, February 10, 2006, bass-day?: We're literally minutes from the GC and it's after 3:00PM so all the deliveries for the day should be in by now so we give it another shot. No dice, bass-day was a bust. Fortunately the musical (Into the Woods for those who care) was good.
February 14, 2006, valent^H^H^H^H^Hbass-day 2: Wife wakes up in horrible pain caused by ovarian cist and calls me at work. I drive home and go to the pharmacy to pick up the vicatin prescription. Later that afternoon we call again… Salesguy calls EBMM… SR5 hasn’t even shipped, now it’s due out around the end of the month.
February 15, 2006: The salesguy I bought the bass from calls (he’s off on Tuesdays) and leaves a message saying my SR5 should ship that day or the next so I should have it by the middle of the following week.
February 22, 2006: No word yet as to the arrival of the long awaited Stingray. I’m headed out of town for the weekend early tomorrow morning so maybe it will come in and we can pick it up on the way home from the airport on Sunday. Here’s hoping…
The suspense is killing me…
