Amazing what you can do when you play for the supreme leader. This TV station is owned by the North Korean government, so it is indeed as bizarre as it looks. Remember the scenes on TV from Kim Jong Il's funeral last week? Think of this in the same light. CREEPY and very sad too.

I'm assuming that somebody else was going to point that out so I've done it for you instead. Can I remind you all that we should leave the politics out of the discussion and just try and say somethign positive about kids and music, OK?. Thanks.

I've seen it before. SCARY is all I can say. Both for us poor fellas with no talent and for the kids who can't possibly have no idea what they're doing nor do we of how they got them to play like that.

What on earth was that? That was great, they're such cute kids and they were into it. their teacher did a great job but also taught them how to perform as well. It was definitely not a typical recital performance.

I attended a small college in oklahoma (just graduated in fact) and the guitar ensemble (things changed and I wasn't in LOL) couldn't do that, seriously, now I know that sounds bad but the players in the college ensemble were 1-2 year players and didn't read very well and didn't practice so I know what their issue was. These kids however I'm afraid practice ALOT probably too much and they don't have the freedom to be kids. I was a kid.... and did a little practicing ,i was fortunate.

I teach guitar in various schools, there are a lot of my students who can play like that, but they lack the spirit and feel these kids had in their performance.
Notice that these are North Korean kids. I don't even want to go there, what kind of discipline they're under. Good ol' Kim Jun Un probably make them smile in the performance or they wouldn't get any food.

The amount of Asian prodigies is truly mind boggling! Be it Japanese, Korean, or Chinese, it never ceases to amaze me how technically gifted they all are. I personally feel it has to do with Asian culture, though I wonder why there are not a lot of well known adult players. Do they stop playing after 10 lol.

How come I feel that just off screen, is a loaded gun?

Or did they say, "Play it right and smile, and we won't cut off food to your parents little girl!"

Very familiar with N Korea. Kunsan, 8 FW. '96-97.
