Has anyone played one of these? I know I wouldn't be gettine a stellar instrument...I've been debating between a 7 string or a baritone, but baritone's winning out for the moment. Here's the problem...THERE IS NOWHERE IN MASSACHUSETTS TO TRY THESE THINGS!!! Same thing with a Petrucci 7-string, thank God Pete Dubaldo's not that far away! But I'm patiently waiting just in case the ol' Sitrucci becomes a reality for a Petrucci. Anyway, thoughts or reviews on the OLP baritone? Thanks!

Tough choice, baritone or seven string. I have a seven now, and I couldn't see myself trading it for a bari. I like it too much.

So I guess the simple answer is: get both :)

I can't comment on the baritone aspect of this thread but would give a thumbs up to the OLP as a budget guitar.
A good friend has the axis olp and we both love the pickups when cranked through my Marshall. I had to dress the frets for him and we applied a very light application of Birchwood casey wax to the fret board.
The guitar is a real looker - trans black. Amazing for the money.
I know it doesn't compare to the real thing but kept in context with what it purports to be, you would have a fine acquisition.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm not one of those guys who spends $200 and then rants and raves all over of how it doesn't sound like a $2000 guitar, I know I'm getting what I pay for. I would just hope it's not like some cheapos that can't even be tuned properly...I've had good cheapos and bad ones, I would just hope this is a good one! I just hate flying blind with guitars, there is serisouly nowhere around to try out most types of EB's or even the OLP's! Not even ol' Guitar Center has many (which hopefully means they're good sellers, not just not in stock). Thanks so far, guys!

I saw a 7-string Petrucci in Junky Music Store in Peabody a few months ago. So-so condition and the price is not right but you may wanna go check it out.

I never quite "got" the baritone until I saw Albert Lee playing one on one of his instructional videos. Wow!
