Thinking of floating the bridge on my Axis

Now before you jump all over me...WAIT!!
I like the idea of being able to pull up (even 1/2 tone) on garmonics and chords. The vibrato effect sounds more natural when you can "bend" +/-
However, since the Axis was designed to be flush, will floating it slightly introduce a whole new set of headaches (I realize it will have to be re-setup and saddles lowered) but besides that...have any of you done it?
Jon, any in sight on this one? BTW it's a pizeo bridge.

OT ( I saw Luke last night..great playing ..he did a cool version of little wing..the guy can really sing too!

The Piezo won't work if the bridge is setup to float. This is why we set the piezo Luke up non floating. The piezo element needs pressure from the string to operate. Less pressure=no sound at all.


Luke is a monster...I have heard he is also an amazing keyboard player as well. I hope he can make it to the open house!

I did in fact notice that Luke's axes had floaters (but no piezos) and he REALLY made use of the pull-up-ability
It had a little mini toggle too (is that a preamp or something?)
Also, did you mean to say that any less downbearing on the saddle than factory spec will result in "no" piezo or just "less" or "poorer" piezo.
I wasn't planning to float it high (maybe 2 or 3 mm at the rear end of bridge)
You're right about Luke..pretty intense player, lots of momentum and excitement in his improvising. He's got a good sense of humour too.
I really dug Simon on drums too. He's looking just as together now as he did as kid with JB!

Yeah Luke is a monster on guitar, l have heard him play keyboards, he plays some on the Live in Amsterdam Dvd, and on some of the Toto cd's, he's said in the past that he uses keyboards/piano alot to write songs.
