I think not more than 50$. You can get Steve's Special which is very very close to it as you know

How do you like the D Sonic as compared to the stock JP pickup? Was the swap-install very hard to do?

I know you didn't ask me, but I've swapped mine out for an Evolution. Much hotter, I love it, it compliments this guitar very well... I'm a distortion FREAK so this is PERFECT!!! WOOOO

I much prefer it. Thicker, more mids. Definately better IMO. Especially with a Recto. The swap/install was very easy, just five wires to solder. I was a pure soldering novice too, I had NEVER done any soldering in my life!

Thanks for the response. Oh, and a, at the risk of revealing my ignorance...what the heck do you mean by IMO?

I use a Guytron 100FV with guytron 2x12 open back and a 2x12 standard. This amp is particularly good for my style. I got into the JPM because I wanted a more versatile modern guitar - not to mention the fact that the thing plays better than what I have used in the past.
I'm thinking of aquiring several of them and simply using a variety of pickups. Maybe one with a Dimarzio Tone Zone and one with the D Sonic for contrast.

Here is Guytron they are very cool different than a recto however they are quite a good value as well.

Guytron

I am a fanatic about this amp. It really does the job and now since I started using JPM Guitars I really think my lifelong tone quest is finally over. The amp was reviewed in the Oct 05 Guitar Player mag. They didn't give it a bad review however, they could not rave to much. I think they are afraid of stepping on the toes of the amp companies that have huge Advertising budgets.
That said the author summed it up well in this way, " To create more dynamic, complex and expressive tones, the GT 100FV incorporates an additional low-power output stage* between the pre-amp channels and the final output stage. Picture a complete 20-watt amp with a classic long-tailed phase splitter driving two cathode-biased push/pull EL 84s into a custom hand-wound interleaved output transformer driving a dummy load. Then picture sending the signal from that output transformer's secondary winding straight into a plexi Marshall. Thats the basic configuration...."
I met Guy Hendrick (the inventor of the Guytron) at a show in Dearborn Michigan. Besides being a great Guitar Player he did amplifier repairs for years and is a competent engineer. He has a patent on his design* and is a real nice person to talk to. I can't get over the range of volume and tones that this amp is capable of producing. Finally a master volume that does what it is suposed to do! This amp really does it all.
