Thinking of taking the plunge...

However; in order to to this, I'd have to sell my MIA Jazz Bass. I already have an SR5 and SR4 (both single H configurations).

I was thinking that adding a Sterling with two pickups might make a suitable replacement.

Your thoughts?

i just tried my first sterling and its killer,the neck it sweet as a nut you will love it.
if you get a chance post a pic of the Sr5 i have the same one with a rosewood board and often wondered what it would look like with a maple one

Sterling is a perfect replacement for the Jazz especially in terms of the neck size...tone wise, quite different but I like the MM tone better of course. However, I sometimes use the single coil when playing in the upper register. Very jazz-like sound with the single coil.

Note that I only have the single H configuration on my Sterling. Sure, having two sets of pickups gives you more tonal options. But I am very pleased with the single H as I can still switch from humbuckers to single coil. And with the phantom coil on the single coil position, there is no hum. Very nice.

I tried an HH Sterling and it was PHAT beyond belief, but if yuo're considering Big Al then that gets my vote.
