This ever happen to you?

My guitarist dropped his Reflex at a gig last night. Luckily it didn't hit the ground, the guitar mostly slid down his legand the cable took the force of the fall as it hit the ground first and then he caught it.

The only unfortunate result was the tip of the 1/4" jack breaking off inside the guitar. He wasn't able to play it tonight. He had to borrow another non-EBMM guitar.

Kudos to the sound guy for suggesting I use a drywall screw to get it out.

I had quite a similar experience. I was rehearsing with my band and my foot got wrapped in the cable between my amp and my pedalboard. I nearly felt : no damage for me or my guitar but the jack broke inside my amp. I removed the tip of the jack with a small plier (just ask your girlfriend, I am sure she has one). The amp was unharmed.

it happened with something i bought at guitar center it was one of those line 6 pocket pods GC said it dint work. when you plug in the cable it was supposed to come on so they were selling it for 5 dollars , so while is there i looked inside the input jack and noticed something in there and the tip of a guitar cord was in it and then it worked fine so i got a 129 dollar pocket for 5 bucks cause no one checked it out.

Buy good quality cables! I've seen that happen a few times and more often than not it was one particular well known brand. I won't say who but the name begins with 'M' and rhymes with 'nonster'.

The cable brand was one that I've used before. I think the main reason was the weight of the guitar fell onto the cable and snapped it inside the jack. Not sure if there is a brand out there that can handle that kind of abuse.

Today's lesson: straplocks!

I'd avoid monster cables because they don't fit all jacks properly. Mogami, planet waves have worked for me.

Monster is a great cable (best sounding for rock if you do a side by side comparison). However, as mentioned, they do on occasion "break off". The good news is that they have a life time warranty (love it!). I use the cables all the time and only needed to use the warranty twice in @12 yrs.

And yes, I do use Mogami - I run all my remaining live gear with it. Never a broken tip.
