You should have called Customer Service. They would have told you correctly that it's part of the production process and every single JP has it. Actually every single Music Man, but the locations depending on the model.

its not what you think. it's where they put a little something that tells the CNC machine what its making. thats how it knows how to shape each guitar. it's way faster than manually programing each body and prevents mistakes. NOT A MANUFACTURE DEFECT!!!:p

on mine you can even see where the bridge screws end i think. makes me feel better knowing they're THAT deep.

edit: seems that little blem differs a bit with each guita. mine is a kick ass swirl in the paint. like a thousand glitters going down the sink.

Ang3lus Please edit your thread very aggressive and inappropriate.

lamusic you are new here and a dealer but if you want to pubically call internal manufacturing control holes a manufacturing defect then maybe we need a long talk about our relationship.

Ang3lus feel free to return your guitar.

ding-ding-ding.....two points for Dante. Correct that is where the chip is installed that tells Urlsa(our buffer) what instrument is being buffed, a very amazing process to see in person(ask some of the folks who attended MM Open House) It has no cosmetic or tonal effect on the guitar. Ang3lus...we've enchanged many emails you know you can email me(customer service) directly with any questions. I'm glad to see you've got the JP in your hands though :) :)

Cheers,

BP: i think lamusic meant it differently. maybe half this forum needs exoression skills classes. and/or anger management...

EDIT: we have exhorbitant expectations from MM guitars...

have you ever looked under the hood of a Ric? or a Fender? or a ..........

seriously, this stuff just makes me shake my head, I'm sorry, but how does it affect overall tone and aesthetics?

Big Poppa, I don't recall naming them defects. Minor Blemish is not a derrogatory statement. There's nothing wrong with his guitar, nor any of the ones I personally own.

Candid - We can't show pricing online, which is why it asks to call, or email for pricing.

Ang3lus, if you don't like your guitar now, you can always send it to me :D I'll take care of that JP :D

oh and yeah, this thread looks bad among others...it should be closed/changed, because it may frighten someone new or else!

it's not about overall tone or looks, it's about getting the perfect guitar then finding out its imperfect.
granted this is a production thing, but imagine the surprise of many other guitar players who paid a handful of money, dunno about that hole and do not have the luxury of getting BP to answer them.
kinda scary.

Well, there's this new thing called the "interweb" where scared people can come and ask those kinds of questions. In fact, they CAN even ask BP about it if they wish. I mean, he's posted twice in this thread already - how much more hand holding would someone need?
