Having just recently gotten my first SR5 as seen in my signature (normally play four strings) and re-joining the forum since I now have a dilemma.

I have serious gas for a Big Al. Y'see, I sold my first SR4 prior to the release of the Big Al and somehow missed it.

So, would you tough it out and learn to play 5 (I am still not feeling "natural" at it, and am far short of the 50 or so hours of attempting that one member here mentioned it might take) or sell/trade to a Big Al 4 'cause they are so pickin' COOL!?!

If you think that the added B will be of advantage to you then stick with it.
I personally only have 4s at the present having never got on with a 5 banger.
To me the 4 just feels more natural, but the extra notes are always handy so for now at least I'm sticking to my SR4's .

I'd go Big Al b/c I like the thin neck and I wouldn't keep pulling the G-string off the neck like I did on my old SR5's . . that's just me - like lighter basses too

Of the two - I like the styling of the Big Al but the sound and feel of the SR.

You need at least one 5.

Thanks, guys.
Just got back from rehearsal (with an acoustic, of all basses!) and I appreciate your thoughts.
I think I will keep the fiver for now, not act on impulse.
I may also try to sell one or two 'other' basses and see if i have enough for a Big Al at that point.
Again, thanks! always good to bounce off of others!
