I've rented this for a day or two and put Bill's old pickguard and some TI jazz flats on it. I think it looks great but the whole fretless thing could be a real bear for me. I'll change it back when I return it and think about whether to take it on trade or not. It's well used with a few cymbal marks on the headstock and a bit of a polish to the paint on the top half of the neck. There's a passive SUB 5 string fretless with a black pickguard there too and it's about the same weight. The passive one is more mellow and mwah-thumpy. This one is more aggressive and growly, less of a sweet sound. The fiver sings soulfully and this one does the same but with a little anger in it. I immediately took to the fiver but the four banger is a bit of a different animal. Perhaps its just a basic difference between active and passive.

I'm trading some good amp and cab gear in so I'm hoping to either get better gear or else take the money and run. The latter is most likely at this point: I'm in selling mode.
