Hey, love the collection, sweet colors. But i got 2 bones to pick with you. One, where are the Sterlings man, i only saw one, i'm so hurt. And number two, the price... how can you guys afford 20-30 basses, how long u been collecting/playing, i have to say that collection beats my friend in guitars, basses and upright basses.

Are u guys like..professional..or sumthing..or CEO's with money out the Ying Yang...

Not to be insulting in anyway, and sorry if you were offended. I'm just suprised.

Hey SWR....LOL...Rich, i wish....No i been playing bass for 27 years
and thru the years i have purchased many basses, and sold many basses.I kept the ones my hands just would not let me sell. The sterlings are in the first picture the all black one is the limited addition Black Onyx, and right behind it is the Blue dawn sterling with all the sparkles in it,great bass...Its up for sale though....Im looking at purchasing a Eden vt-300a all tube head...
I started collecting in the early 80's, Old fenders back then were cheap i was buying 62 strats for 400.00 each and 57 pbasses were about 500.00....Nobody wanted a fender everybody was doing the hair band thing..( Not Me Thankfully ) and all they wanted was Charvels and Jacksons and Hamers.....But I was a avid Fender fan and i geuss i capatilized on it...And purchased what ever i could at the time and hung on to it.

Thanks

Well that explains it for me, i hope i have a collection like that after playing for 27 years. I'm hoping to add a StringRay, as soon as i get older, and can afford it.

Of course...this could take time....:D

Hey Swr...I remember saying the same exact thing to my Bass teacher when i was a teenager...Thats all we have is time..The bid Difference is that when i was a teenager we didnt have a wealth of info let alone the internet....With guys like Bovinehost and Rod trussbroken to name but a few your in good hands...Dont worry my friend you will be going thru alot of basses in your time we all have.......The other good thing is the stingrays are cheap right now...But believe me they wont be cheap for long.I been thru 3 decades of it, i remmember saying that 70's jazz basses would never cost anymore than 700.00...Boy was i ever so wrong...people are asking as high as 2000.00 for late 70's jazz basses....its amazing....well let me tell you The stingrays are next in line...stock up now boys..its better than the stock market......

Cool

Yah, at 16 there are a lot of expenses already(not as much as adults), considering i get little pay. I got a car, and lets me tell you, a 93 Yukon, that isn't stock is on heck of a gas guzzeler. I spend close to 50 bucks on gas, and i get 365 miles on it. It's not a cheap car. But when i get a well paying job, my first couple of checks are going in the bank to get me close to the StingRay.

btw, i agree, Rod, and Bovine are a wealth of information

Big question here.....

This may take some time to explain my thoughts, so hold on....

Ok, as i have heard all the really good violins, violas, cello(sp), etc, were build a long time ago. But the reason they sound so good, is becuase the more you play them, the better they sound. Now, it's not proven why they do, but they just do. If you purchased 2 identical violins, and put one in a vault, and played the crap out of the other, the one you played the most sounds far better, and if one hasn't been used, it takes a little time to actually sound better....again, don't ask why, this is just what i have heard.

Ok, so does all this apply to electric basses???Becuase if it does, then i can't really see the point in playing a certain bass for only shows...I know plenty of people who do, because they don't want to wear out thier show bass, which sounds kinda stupid to me....But i can see the point in circulating basses, they would all be played.

When i purchase something, i want to use it...The only exceptions would be if i had a Ferrari 360 Spyder, and the sick NAMM 100th anniversary StingRay....man..one day..she will be mine..o yes...i can see it now...hehe.,

I'm a freak, i know:D

Good points SWR, I have played alot of different basses in my life time.hundreds upon hundreds.....I walked into a shop that had a dead mint 64 jazz bass,i mean it was like a time warp....I went there to purchase this bass and i have to say i hated it...I have a 64 in my collection now and the one i have is pretty beat...well played, mine blew away the mint one everything about the mint one was just Blah...it had nothing...the tone was awful and the feel of the neck didnt do anything for me.So i geuss your theory may be valid.
