Hi All.
For the past 2 months i have been playing my recently acquired Korean p....... wolfgang (can't afford an axis ) , the other night i plugged in my standard morse for a quick blast and i couldn't believe how hot the wolfgang's pups where compared to the morses.

Its made me realize that my playing and musical taste leans more towards the rockier side of thing's thus making me think whether i would be better off selling my morse (need to sell it to fund a new one ) to get an axis or a luke (love EMG'S) .

Can anyone confirm that the axis pups are indeed much hotter than the morse and how does the bridge EMG in the Luke compare.

Also can anyone give me a guide on what my morse is worth (£).

I owned a US Wolfie Special (no binding...sort of like an Axis Sport by comparison) and also played back to back used US and Korean Wolfies and also bought my Axis before selling the Wolfie. Here's my observation......the Korean Wolfie played well but the pickups were absolutely horrible. The US ones (even the special) do have higher output than the Korean (at least the ones I compared) but the US ones were far, far, far cleaner and had way more mid and low range to them. The axis pickups sounded very similar to me. When I had both and went live, the Wolfie was always my backup to the Axis because they sounded closest in my guitars.

if you like the sound of emg's why not put them in your Morse? would be cheaper

The thought of butchering any guitar let alone a musicman doesn't really appeal to me , i suppose i would rather keep it original sell it for a good price and see what i can get with the dosh .

Big thanks for the reply , don't really agree with you on the Korean wolfie thing , i did a comparison and didn't hear that much difference much the same as this guy.

I think the reason i'm considering selling my Morse is because I've been looking and listening to all the wonderful guitars on this forum and realizing that there are probably better guitars suited for my style of playing

It's also very possible that the Korean Wolfies are variable like the OLPs were. Some great, some not so great. I only tried 2 Korean and 3 US Wolfs plus my own US Special while I owned it.... All the Axis guitars I've played have been very consistantly good. I did get to do back to back testing in a Daddy's Junky Music.

i owned several US wolfies (still have one) and i own two EBMM EVH as well as a Y2D morse. the wolfies have the hottest PUPs of of these three guitar models. so the wolfie is hotter than the axis/evh pups. but don´t forget, a morse is made of poplar and the wolfies and evhs are made of basswood with maple top, that´s the reason why the axis /evh and wolfies sound brighter as the morse. so don´t let you fool by the effect of a brighter sounding guitar, that i would have hotter pups. wouldn´t say that the axis/evh pups are hotter as the morse pups. but the wolfie does have it.

Are the pup's in the standard Morse different to the Y2D?

don´t think so, but the y2d has a maple top like the axis, which makes it sound a bit brighter as the regular morse. a friend of mine as both, the original and the y2d, so i could compare it.

yes slightly

Thanks Colin.

The pickup model number's are the same is it just the standard has the extra single coil ?

I'm quite confident i could sell mine its just finding something of equal condition for the same money (preferably in the uk , straight swap would be nice).
