I'm interested in getting TI flats for one of my bass guitars. Since the praise team I play with hardly ever deviates out of contemporary hymns and praise songs, I'm stuck with rootsy-type playing that must feature a solid bass in the background.

I've been playing with Ernie Ball Slinkies (various styles) and GHS Bass Boomers, both too bright and "metallic" for the sound and tone the team plays.

I know you can get good old-school tones from the TI's, as evidenced by so much of the positive feedback in this board about that tone. But, as some of you know, I loooove slappin'. So I was wondering if the TI flats will give a good slap sound (vis-a-vis Flea) as well as a good bassy sound (basically a standup sound).

You get an "old school" slap tone like Larry Graham. They feel great and will thump for roots music.
