If you are like me & many on this board who trade/buy/sell/etc., you may want a case. When trying to sell a MM bass when it's got nicks, scratches, etc., you'll find the value isn't as good as a near mint one. Gig bags are convenient but theirs always that chance of something happening at a gig that a bag just won't protect.
Just my opinion.

I been using gigbags more and more as of late. They're easier to move around and take up less space. Of course, I'm giving up considerable safety, but dings "ain't no thang but a chicken wing."

This isn't really an opinion on whether to use the bag or the case. It's just that I have a friend who wondered why he had some scratches on his bass. He couldn't work out how the scratches had occured. However, with CSI type scrutiny he eventually realised the scratches had been caused by the zip on his gig bag. So, I suppose it's just a word to be careful when putting the bass in and out of the bag.

I use cases all the time - it's just me!
There are different zipper arangements on different styles of bags. That said, of course you have to use a bit of care. Not using a bit of care is much worse, however, with a hard case. Nothing like having the lid and it's metal edge and overhanging metal hardware come crashing down while you are pulling out your ax. Very much messier than zipper rash [ooohh I like that term. I think I just made it up. did I?]

yep, my vote is for the gig bag as well. Been using gig bags for both of my Bongos and besides that, a single gig bag is the perfect partner for an SKB BassSafe for when you wanna fly
If you usually use one of the stiffer, more padded and reinforced, heavily pocket-laden sooperdooper gig bags, be aware that you may also need one that's sleeker to slide into the Bass Safe. Some of the bulky jobs just won't go.

Absolutely correct!

I believe my views on case v gig bag is well known, so no point repeating my policy platform.

I won't recommend them to anyone for a Bongo 5 then.

I actually tried a Bongo 5 in a Dudepit bag while we were on the phone and told you it wouldn't make it.

We were drinking, though. So maybe I'm the one that's making it up.

For gig bags that fit a Bongo 5, I have a RoadRunner single gig bag, and an UnderCover double gig bag. It fits in both of them.

Muisc Man hardshell cases for me........

Ya gotta watch Bongos in the MM HSC as the cutouts still allow the bass to slip back and forth and the way the the Bongo's have that point at the top you can chip the finish off the tip if you don't isolate the bass inside the case by sticking a cloth or ball of newspaper if front of the lower horn.
