Hey,
Is the Tobacco Sunburt Quilt top darker than the maple flame top on the BFR JP6? I've been looking at some pictures online and the quilt looks a lot darker/browner but I'm not sure if that's due to the lighting of the pictures. I own an ASS tobacco sunburst maple flame, and its more of a lighter, golden color. The Brown quilt on the BFR tobacco sunburst looks stunning. But I hope its browner. Because I want to buy it and not have it look exactly like my ASS. Variety is the spice of life and all that...what do you think?

Perhaps you are referring to the same site I have looked at ... if so, I would contact them to make sure the darker one is not mislabeled. Looks like walnutburst to me, but it could just be the lighting in the photo. At the site in question, the top thumbnail photo is a different guitar altogether (compare the back of the neck and hardware) until you click on it. They all look absolutely killer though!

are u referring to basscentral? yeah i did a bit more research and i think that is a walnut burst. it looks stunning. absolutely gorgoues. how does ebmm make such incredible quilt patterns? for me quilt >>>> flame. the quilt looks dazzling, bahama blue quilt looks like the pacific ocean (reminds me of the ending from shawshank redemption..."i hope the pacific is as blue as i imagine" yeah cheesy i know). the transblack quilt looks like smoke, ruby red quilt looks like smoldering embers from a campfire, and yeah thats pretty much all i got...

It's probably due to the lighting in the pictures. All of the tobacco burst BFR JP's I've seen have been really close.

You're probably talking about the pics from Bass Central. They have one pictured that is labeled a Tobacco Sunburst/ Quilt, but they use a full front/back pic of the koa in the same listing.
This particular guitar has the best top of any in inventory. It is amazing. I must have stared at it for 10 minutes last night :)
I've already emailed them about it. I'll let you know.

I am mainly a quilt guy thought it sometimes depends on the guitar as sometimes a flame looks better. Looking at both finishes it would be a toss up since they both look great.

On the same subject, or at least similar; Is it called Sunburst or just Burst? I was under the impression that it was called Tobacco Burst but Basscentral does label them as Tobacco Sunburst.

Not important, just curious which is correct.

The koa JPs used to be finished in Tobacco Burst, now they are finished in Island Burst. It is also possible that the wrong pictures may have been uploaded - that happens to me once in a while!

On the EB color chart it is called Tobacco Burst. Other companies may name the color differently.
