Help! Tomorrow new amp->help needed!!

Hi everyone!!
Tomorrow I'm going to a big music store because I want to get a new amp.
At the moment I'm playing my jp through my mesa dual rectifier head, and a 4x12 marshall cab.
I was QUITE happy with the sound at the beginning, but now I'm really not.
Great amp for heavy metal rhythm, but for soloing it's just not my thing..not enough punch, and the sound is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYY too concentrated on low and high frequencies.
So, I decided to change it.
What I'm looking for is an amp with LOTS of gain, but a LOAD of punch and warm tones, with lots of mids.
The other night I played through a peavey triple x, and boy did that head sound great with just the jp connected to the input!!!
lots and lots of punch, gain, and the guitar just sang when playing leads!!!!

So, that's the kind of sound I'm looking for.
I heard some clips of the peavey 6505 on youtube and that also seems like a great amp, and so does the engl invader and powerball (but I've never tried them).

What amps would you guys sugest I tried first?
I know the best thing would be just to try them all, but it would be good to know some amps I should be looking out for.

I think you should try amps with EL34 if you like the mids...

Go with Hughes & Kettner Triamp,... HUGE sound, very organic

Or ENGL, try the INVADER... and it's full MIDI.... or if you have the money, the SE670 with EL 34!!!

German amps are the best !!!

Hai mai sentito parlare della Hughes and Kettner? sono degli ampli fantastici. Se no' in alternativa per un suono potente e allo stesso tempo vintage vatti a provare uno dei nuovi Orange o un Vox tutto valvolare.

Needless to say I love this combination!

I called in today and they said that they'll give me 1400€ for my dual, so I can buy any amp up to 1400€.
I'm really digging the tone of the 6505+, at least from what I hear on youtube, and a new one only costs 1200€.

what do you think of the 6505+?
anybody here plays one with the jp?

Laney GH50L with proper tube and speaker compliment. No need to break the bank for great tone(s). Enormously versatile.

I had my heart set on buying a mesaboogie roadking series 2 but the 'Mesa' range are very expensive here in europe.

I heard a lot of good things about the engl amps recently are there much more affordable than the mesa boogies.

I was wondering why nobody asked yet
I like the triple x, but I don't like it enough for it to be my amp....
I'm looking for something a bit different, also because the other guitarist in the band has the triple x so I want something different...
anyway, tomorrow I'm going to try as many as I can.

+1 on the Engle Morse Head. Amazing amp. One of my buddies has one and it sounds incredible. Its got me gassing for one now. Its versatile as hell and every setting I tried it at, I couldn't get a bad tone out of it.

On my wishlist of amps to try are the Peavey JSX and the Mesa Boogie Roadster. The Roadster is basically a dual rectifier with two more channels, so you might want to skip that one, but the JSX should be worth checking out. It should be somewhat similar to the XXX. I've never really tried any of these, that's why they are on my list

See if you can track down a Peavey JSX.

Focused gain, mid heavy, smooth leads and above all, it has nice cleans unlike any 5150 or 6505 that you will play.

I already tried the jsx and I didn't like...that was a bit too focused on the mids.
I'd like to avoid signature amps

Marshall JCM 2000 100 watt gets a great sound out of it. (Might just be my opinion) If you throw a digital delay on that you can get a pretty good sound. I as well play through a Jp and it just gives off the "in your face" kinda sound.

As Johnny Dubai said, try a Cornford...I have a feeling thats exactly what you are looking for. Great amps. Agree with you on the JSX...not my thing either.

So I went this morning...
I tried the 6505+, the savage 120, the morse signature engl, a vintage modern and a plexi.
All very nice amps, but I don't know, I really liked the steve morse but something was missing.

Then I happened to come across some pedals, and thought "what if my only problem is that need a bit of help from a pedal?"
So I plugged a bb preamp into a dual recto like mine.....and WOW!!!!.
Set in vintage mode (I don't like the modern) I had EVERYTHING I was looking for!!
harmonics, punch, gain gain gain, compression...it was all there, I didn't really need a new amp, I just needed something to add to the tone.
In the end I played with all the knobs for a while and managed to get a fabulous sound.
So, in the end, I left without buying anything
I would have bought the bb preamp straight on, but I didn't have 200€ with me.

So now I must start considering pedals more than I used to.

Since the bb is quite expensive I was thinking of trying out maybe a ts9.
I'm really glad though that I FINALLY MANAGED TO FIND MY SOUND!!
It's just mind blowing
