Tone Block

Ok...I promised myself I'd never dare to post over here, at least not until EBMM makes an full on acoustic guitar. But my curiosity is getting the best of me and I gotta know! What the fug is a tone block?

It's a mahongy block in the guitar that gives it a different sound.

A center mahogany wood block, roughly from the neck to the bridge, is incorporated with the guitars regular bodywood (typically Alder, basswood etc. depending on the model) and then capped with the maple. BP says its the combo of woods that provides the overall enhanced tonal qualities of the instruments Official specs are kept super secret, hence the name super secret tone block

more stupid question regarding tone block

hi guys,

are all of the 2007's ebmm guitars already equipped with tone block feature?(like the compensated nut in 2006)

i really want that enhanced tone but i don't like maple top on ebmm guitars... from what i know all the guitar equipped with tone block feature have maple top finish (luke BFR, 20th anny, JP F-1)

is there any change for me to get ebmm solid color guitar with that tone block?

Only the 20th Silo, BFR Petrucci and BFR Luke have the tone block. It's not a standard feature like the compensated nut.

As for "enhanced tone", I think all the MM models have pretty darn good tone just the way they are

yes i agree that all the MM models have amazing tone.. but i'm really curious with how that tone block sounds...

All I know is, in Dallas, it was awesome in Luke's and Tyler's hands, but guitars don't need a tone block to sound awesome with either one of those guys playing them.

at the moment i prefer ASS rosewood over 20th silo. but the 20th needs a bit time to develope (i remember that i had the same prob w/JP6 when it was new)
i am still not sure if i like the 20th pickups.....
