more "record company" garbage!!! I agree with Richard Marx (his song was one that she downloaded).

Is it ok to say that record companies that show their colors as such are disgusting!!!

People have been run over who lost an arm or a leg and did not receive this amount in damages, they have to be kidding me.I am totally against illegal downloading and for the protection of artist rights but this is insane.I beleive a law more to the liking if you are caught a first time you will be warned the next time that you will pay a very stiff fine would make most people think twice. The scary part is where did they find 36 jurors that agreed to these figures,Beverly Hills.

I'm also stunned at the amount - of course filesharing illegally isn't a good thing but shouldn't there be a better way to make the punishment fit the crime - straycat makes a good point.

". . . . a better way" ????

Do you really think attorneys are searching for a better way?!

However, music labors must be protected, and the artists have to rise up and take a stand:

1. Reiterate that file sharing is stealing (which it is).
2. As mentioned, a systematic approach to reasonable penalties (and as best you can keep the attorneys in check, who because of their greed, turn civilized check & balances into out of control turmoil wherever they put their hands.)
