Put the original JP bridge humbucker I picked up over a year ago in there to give it a shot finally and I dig it! Feels a bit warmer, meant more for clean or low gain tones. The D-Sonic felt more like only a high gain pickup. I can see now why Pete replaced the D-Sonics on his dargie(s)!:D

Interesting, I may have to try that with my JP7. My JP6 is a pre D-Sonic and I do like how it sounds. May have to track down an original JP7 pickup.

I'm sure they're out there but I've never seen one up for grabs!

I wonder why JP didn't like the sound of the D-Sonic flipped in the seven string but he did in the six string?

That's been covered somewhere but obviously it just comes down to what sounds better to his ears.

Might put the original PUP back in my Silver JP.

It came with the D-Sonic already installed, but in the reverse orientation (bar to bridge) - I flipped back to the original JP6 orientation - sounds way better, but still not wrapped in it.

The original PUP came too.

Broke a string last night, so might be an opportunity to try out the original.

I gotta say though - for me the Standard JP and BFR don't come close to the 20th for rich, warm, grunty, ballsy tones.

I'll probably get slapped for not checking the search function, but I wonder what aftermarket Dimarzio is close to the original JP7 bridge pickup?

The DiMarzio that is closest to the original JP7 pickup is the Blaze humbucker. Its basically the 7 string version of the Steve's Special.

Thanks Phil. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Koa JP when you get it.

Yeah, I can't wait to get it, Josh. Its gonna be one killer guitar. I have a feeling that its just gonna sound amazing through my new rig that I'm putting together. As a matter of fact, I know it'll sound great.

I prefer the original in the bridge as well the D sonic to me seems cold. I haven't tried it turned around yet, that is supposed to make a difference, but both of my balls have the old pup in them so I am happy. :)
