I took the white AXIS Sport out on the gig last night...It sounds so nice...It's the first time I restrung any of my axis guitars with 10-46 strings...and it really sounded fat...I've been a little nervous about switching guages because I was afraid of the bigger strings binding in the nut. I did have a few problems with the g string going way sharp after using the trem, but I'm sure a little graphite or nut sauce will cure that.
I'm going to put 10's on my orange ASS and see if it makes a big difference, because as of right now, the sport sounds thicker than the super sport.
Anyone else have any comments about this?

I'm playing at church this weekend with the Sport, and hopefully will have some video clips on Monday...the church has an awesome praise team...amazing band and sound/video system! Seacoast Church

I actually prefer the sound of my Sport to a Super Sport. There's just something really resonant about a single piece of ash vs basswood and maple. I also use 10's on this gtr and its just huge sounding. The wound strings are very piano like especially when brand new.

I wound up having to replace the nut though. I went to a Tusq which is great. Trem stays in tune alot better now too.

Be careful when you change strings.I too went to 10-46s on my sil sp,and didnt file the nut..next string change, the nut broke at the big E.I went with a graphtec nut..no problems in the last 5 years.cheers.

Yeah....I was a little concerned about the nut, but it looks like it can accommodate the 10's pretty well....the G string seems to bind a little, but my repair guy has some nut files.

Follow up...i played ASS with 9's at church tonight....and it just feels so good with 9's....I'm torn.
Maybe I'll just keep the Sport with 10s and the SuperSport with 9s.

More youtube sound samples!

Hey man if you can, do a comparison on youtube if you can.

But do it with the same settings on your amp/pod. It would be better to do a comparison with an amp of course.

Play the same riffs/licks with the Sport and then Super Sport.

Please?? lol

Yeah, I could do that...It will probably be next to impossible to hear any difference with the pod...I personally think that almost any guitar sounds the same when you play it through the pod on a high gain setting...but I'll do it with clean and dirty sounds...I'll try to get that done this week. also, it sounds pretty crappy just coming through the built in mic on my 150 dollar kodak digi camera (it's not even a real video camera...it just shoots low res video)

i have been thinking about using hybrids on my pet for a while now, but im loving the super slinkys.. i use my guitar at church too, and love it to bits, i couldnt imagine playing another guitar, i havnt touched my les paul or SG since i got my pet :D maybe time to sell them off and get myself an ASS ;) big cred to BP and the crew for making such amazing guitars, i always get compliments on mine and always have other guitarists enquiring about it and loving the tone a feel of it :D

Okay...I played all the services this weekend and church...I took my trans orange ass with 9's and my white sport with 10's. Our sound engineer is Lynn Murphy...he toured for years as front of house engineer with Don Henley, Brooks and Dunn, and Michael McDonald, so I trust him totally. He said without a doubt, the orange one sounded better....he said it just cut through better...I got tons of compliments from the church members, and at least a dozen people asking me what kind of guitars I was playing...I'll post a link to the video from the service.
