This is one incredible bass, and to my knowlege this was to be built as a test/sample bass.
The body is a 2 piece Hickory body with no Pickguard holes.
The neck is a 1 piece maple, yes MAPLE fretless neck with the standard skunk stripe for this Time. Check out the wood in the neck, Great peice of maple.

This Bass was purchased from an Employee a few years after he left Ernie Ball Music Man.
This Bass is a 1987, first of the early 3 bands and the second maple fretless to my knowlege. The first never made it to the Public, making this the only one to exist
I believe. I hope this puts a smile on everyones face. Thank You all again for allowing me too show a few of these rare creatures. Thank You Mr. Biff

The question is... how much more wood could it be, and the answer is none. None more wood! Well... unless you REALLY like the look of that bass. AWESOME!

>>>Whats one of those Rod?

A piece of plastic-like material that's placed between the body and the neck plate. I believe they're called cushions. They appeared on some Fender Basses (1970's ???). I imagine their purpose was to protect the finish from the metal plate.

In the pic above, you can see the black around the neck plate. It may be shadowing, but it looks like a cushion to me.

I'm sure Dave will soon let us know :)

That is a great looking bass. If there were more than one of those made look at what we could all fight to own:)

Hey Dave

Thanks an d dont panic.... the bass is yours but it was stolen from us. That was an employee back door deal. That was an experiment that both Dudley and I remember. Just for giggles send derek an email with the serial number and we will verify. again, dont worry its yours.

Jack as you know more thaan most the world is a funny place. It is always dissappointing when you are reminded of things like theft but isnt suprising.

Great current example. We have the battle of the bands where 200 bands get to play on the Vans Warped Tour out of 10,059 bands entered. You would think that the bands would be happy to play and appreciative, but one band took the special pass scanned it and had them printed and was selling the counterfiet passes at his college and in the bars around his town. Another one scanned it and posted it on a web site for counterfitters. You would think that even if you werre a skunk that you wouldn't rip off the people who gave you an opportuntity to play on the biggest tour of the summer.

Please tell me you beat the ever lovin' crap outta the scumbag. Or, at the very least, had Derek smite him with a SUB Bass, or something.

BP, that's unbelieveable but hey, so is humanity sometimes. And Dave......... what can i say, that has got to be one of the most amazing Sting Rays I've ever seen!!!!!!!

one other note BP.... seeing the silkscreen on the new Morse Y2D(sp?) model... would you ever consider bringing back the old EBMM gold silk screen for the headstocks? even the old-school gold MM logo would look wild on the Bongo.... just a flight of fancy not bitching or dissatisfied with current products :D

BTW, I do relise there is no gold on Dave's SR logo so as for the above comment...ummm, would be a cool thing but I think I'll be putting strawberries or something else into my cornflakes and a little less crack....
