In all honesty... you won't just use the bridge pickup when you have the neck pickup. IMHO it will probably encourage you to try different tones.... the blend knob is a powerful thing... and very tempting.

You don't have to turn that front pickup on or off... but just add a bit here or there. If you don't even want that option, check out the single H... people swear by it.

If you are set on a dual pickup... the front H and S DO have different personalities. HH is the monster truck... big beefy, more aggressive. HS is also huge but is less aggresive, more open, could be described as clearer or piano-like... and less in the low mid "growl".... or at least those are some of the common descriptions I have read.

You want super huge tone HH, you want big tone with a bit of refinement and some clear deep open juice HS. If you want the point and shoot "sweetness" single-H in the sweet spot.

Haven't tried the HS or H myself so I won't comment on that. However, I can tell you that I *rarely* solo either the bridge H, neck H or piezo on my Bongo HHp. It is 98% of the time, a blend of all of the transducers. The blend knob, to me, is every bit as important in sculpting tone as the eq knobs and hand position.

Based on my experience with the HH, I would get that. Plus the stealth HH looks awesome imho... but I've never tried an HS so take that with a grain of salt.

I have an HS and love all the sounds it produces. It sounds wonderful - and I ALWAYS solo the bridge pickup. That sounds great, too.

When did oyu put your order in? Depending on that it may come with an ebony board (or is that an extra cost option on stealths?)

Long as you don't have an issue with the neck pickup "getting in your way," I'd take the HH without question. Agree with all comments below.

totally agree with the "getting in the way bit"

I love my single H, & really didn't get along with the HH (for the above reason as I play very "loosely")

Maybe the HS is that glorious middle ground! it's next on my list anyway! :D

PS. i realise that doesn't help at all.

Bongo HS:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS0mQDmQzAs"]YouTube- Ernie Ball/Music Man Bongo 6 String Bass[/ame]

Bongo HH

Bongo H

I realise that these are all recorded differently and have different people playing, and it is through youtube quality - but you will get an idea of the different kind of tones available.

I have the 4 string HH Bongo and I've tried to use just the Bridge PUP alone and it just did not do it for me. I come from a long line of P Basses and I enjoy that thunderous huge room filling tone, the HH Bongo gives that to me in truckloads. Something about that blend control that serves up whatever tones you may prefer and quite a few you haven't heard yet.

The Black HH Bongo shown above is the same Model and Color as I have now..........

Nuff said...........OMB

It's one of those things no one can tell ya, since neither is "better", just different. But when I hear phrases like "heart set on", etc, I tend to think it's best to stick with that. What good is a good deal if it's not what you want.

if you have an opportunity you should try all 3 of em and then decide which you like.
i love my hh, and the h is starting to grow on me. they say its a point and shoot bongo, but it really needs a careful hand or it will chop something off ;);)
