Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has had any luck with the TB Mod on the AL HH and JP6? If so what values?

I absolutely LOVE all my EBMM's but would like to get the mod added to these two for better use of the volume control. I don't want to change the tone or sound at all when volume is all the way up, however I like for the tone not to change as the volume goes down to clean up the dirt on amps and pedals.

I have a SSS AL with a maple neck that cleans up perfectly with the volume. I also have another JP6 with a maple neck that cleans up great as well. However my AL and my other JP6 has all rosewood neck. I can't wrap my head around why the neck material would have anything to do with volume clean up, so it is probably just those two guitars electronics. But with those two when turning down the volume it is like using the tone knob as well.

I know it is different because of the pre-amp but the my Luke IIIs are absolutely PERFECT with volume clean up. Tone is the same at any point on the volume pot.

Also on the AL the taper on the volume is quite drastic, would a different pot make a difference?

Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The Luke is perfect with the volume roll-off because the signal is buffered by the pre-amp - you don't get the effects of cable capacitance and the different load as you roll-off the volume pot.

In the other (passive) scenarios, the treble loss is affected by the pickups and cable capacitance- you're not seeing as drastic an effect with the single coils as you do with the humbuckers. (The lower the inductance of the pickups, the less of an issue this is.)

Anyhow ... just thought I'd chime in. As Kev says, there are a ton of different suggested values for a treble bleed, so it's a case of what sounds good to you.

Thanks guys for the info, I did look through all the posts I could find. Familiar with the buffer and single coils cleaning up better. I have a PRS that cleans up perfectly as well and then the EMG DG and Clapton setup.

I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly. I have other guitars that the proper values and everything I have found. With the JP6 with a rosewood neck and the AL with rosewood neck with stock everything has anyone found the value of the cap and resistor that really worked for them.

I guess I am just trying to avoid the trial and error and just get it right the first time.

Also, I have to say props to the both of you DrKevn and Beej. You always give good and proper responses. There is nothing like helpful people

(Edit) I think I found a solution. V-Treb Variable Treble Bleed Circuit.

Your post got me thinking if there was a variable way of doing it, thanks DrKev
