Hi everyone,
I searched for a few threads about this, but they didn't address my question quite right. Lately I've been having some problems with my sterling distorting with even minimal treble boost. I have my amp set flat, no clipping, and only play at moderate volume/gain.

I keep my bass controls right around center, too.

The problem is a recent occurance. When it started, I figured it was the battery and changed it with a fresh one. When that didn't work, I thought I had blown the tweeter on my co-ax EA cabinet. After shutting off the tweeter, the distoration was still occurring. I rolled all controls to cut and slowly increased the treble to flat (mild distortion) and then towards boost (super fuzz). Neither the bass or mid control caused any distortion when isolated or boosted together.

I A/B tested against my warwick thumb (18v system) and had no distortion at all at any setting.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Dan

saturation trouble with my sterling bass.

I have the same problem. Do you have news.
Here the letter I send to the customer service

I have a sterling bass bought in 1994, I take good care of my bass, I love it. She is in perfect condition.
From last november when I play a little bit hard, then I have a saturation.
What ever the selector position or equaliser position or volume position or string.
Just the saturation is more obvious when the selector is on the left position and with the A string (but it happens with all strings at any selector position).

The stringed instrument maker told me that the saturation can be seen at the preamp shipset output
on an oscilloscope, So they change it and the problem remains.

I don't know what to do .... and I have gig planned...

Could you please tell me if this problem is known, what can be the problem and the solution.

Dont know about the problem, but just give EB customer service a call or email. They're the best in the biz.
