Alright so I'm new to jps. Or just trems in general, actually. However I do understand how they work, and that they need adjusted when changing tunings or string size. When I bought the guitar from my friend, he showed me how to make the adjustments, because we put a new set of strings on. But now I want to tune down a half step. Right now I'm tuned to A#,F,A#,D#,f,a#,d#. I want to go to A,E,A,D,e,a,d.

I'm running 11s with a 68. And I have all 5 trem springs on. I'm kinda clueless when it comes to the springs. My friend said I'd need all 5 with what I was doing. I assume because the string tension is pretty high in the tuning I'm in.

So what do you guys think? I know I'll new to tune, adjust the claw, tune, adjust the claw...etc, until the bridge is level... Do I still need all 5 springs? And if not, how do I compensate the lost tension if I remove one or two, or however many I would remove? Thanks in advance for any advice, guys!!!

For anyone that's interested, I ended up taking 1 spring off, tuned down and adjusted the claw a couple times, then adjusted the truss rod just a smidge. Everything seems fine. Action might be a hair low, but definitely not too big of an issue! Adjusting terms seems scary, but its really not too bad.
