Trem on MM Albert Lee

Quick question:

Is the trem on the Albert Lee (HH) model set to dive only? What's your experience with converting quickly to drop D tuning? Any setup needed or is it possible on the fly?

I'm also interested in your experiences with this particular tremelo.

alThough I've never tried an AL I have had the Vintage Trem that is on the AL "on my Luke" and its an awsome trem. It is dive only and you can change tunings on the fly with no worries. Fantastic trem man you wont be dissapointed!

The Vintage Trem on Music Man Guitars are probably the best around. You can float
the Trem in an Al to go up and down. When it's floating the Trem plate wont be flush
up against the body. I have one set for floating and another flush on the body for
regular use. Stays in tune either way.

Please note:

When setup to be floating you won't be able to do on the fly drop D, as that would detune the other strings aswell.
When setup to be flush (dive-only): no prob

You can set the trem to float a bit above flush to achieve pitch raising. Luke has many of his axes set this way. The vintage trem on these models are identical. However if you detune you will lose intonation. Young/yang. If the term is set flush against the body you'll have no detune problems.

I think it's the best vintage style trem out there. You'll have no problems going to drop D with it.

So standard it is set dive-only? That's what I'm looking for. Already have a floating trem on my Petrucci.

I have 2 AL's with Trems and they are awesome. I guess what with the locking tuners, and no windings around the posts - oh yeah and no string trees they have everything going for them. I set my Limited Edition Al to float and had it like that for quite some time. Didn't cause any problems although my heavy handedness did - wresting my palm on the bridge caused obvious problems.
Trem s are great but I can't reply on the dropped D - could cause problems with a "floater".

You can do drop D on a floater, just not 'on the fly'

It's possible on my Petrucci, but I have to retune the other 5 strings slightly. Talking about a great trem..

Yes, the AL trem standard set up is non-floating, so drop - D is not a problem. I do it on my 25ths (same trem) with no issues.
