Tremolo Rout Cavity for an Axis?

I love my Axis, but I really wish it had a cavity so the tremolo would truly float.

Has anyone done that, wanted to, or have any advice about getting it done? Like for example what would have to be done to the posts (replace them?) if you routed out around them. Obviously you'd have to pull 'em and then re-seat them.

I assume EB would not do anything like that.

I've seen 'em around, they're truly rare (a custom one-off obviously). Here's one that looks good enough:

Hey Razzle,

I know Tommydude had it done to an Axis. A good luthier would do an excellent job of it. Go for it!

Razzle,

I too have been thinking of doing this to my axis or possibly picking a used one up and having it routed as well. Please let us know if you get it done and what your results are.

I have contact info for a guy recommended to me via HRI forums. He is in California. My next project is to have him route a luke for a floyd, (as soon as I can find a used one at a decent price). If you would like his contact info let me know and I'll give it to you. I also have contact info for a guitar painter in Cali if your interested. I plan on having the luke/floyd painted in a badass color of course!

Good luck.

Cheers,

Tom
