ok i have only had my OLP MM1 for a week, but today when i got home from work , when ever i use the tremolo i can hear the springs stretching with the guitar plugged in to my or even when its not even plugged in, , is it just cause the guitar is new and the springs are just strecthing and after awile the springs will be quite or should i maybe put the oil or WD-40 on the springs..... in the back....

no matter how hard or soft i push on the termolo the springs make the noise..

any help would be greatfull..

P.S just a regular tremolo, not a floyed...

All trem springs do that, just some guitars do it worse than other depending on construction, electronics and grounding (usually).

The ones in my JP7 were kind of noisy too, so I put cotton balls between the springs. Clears that up right away.

ok so there is now harm beeing done to the guitar?? thanks for the quick reply, like i say i got worried cause last night before i left for work, it did not make the noise from the springs, then i get home from work and its there and it scared me thinking of man whats wrong with this thing....lol....

i might try cotton balls and see if that makes the srpings quite...

i was not sure if maybe they need to be adusjted or something beeing new.... good to now that does happen....

Take the cover off and look at them- is the noise them rubbing against each other or at the friction point? Or is it actually the stretching that causes them to rattle?

Then either oil friction points, put in cotton balls as desribed, or get some new springs (sometimes they get old and really suck).

ok i took the back cover off.. and the one spring is touching the body of the guitar bye a hair, so it was rubbing just a little bit, either that or its really close and not touching at all... so i put a bit of oil there and that seems to have stoped the noise, the srpings are only two weeks old... on my other guitars the springs are further from the body and not so low..

thanks for the help...

Good stuff!

Yeah, if it's touching, another idea might be to change the location of the springs (e.g. if you have 2 that are parallel, use two that are in a "V" from the centre of the claw), or simply bend the hook on the claw slightly so the spring is suspended higher off the body.

It won't affect anything but the tension. Moving them inward will stretch them a little more so it'll take a little more effort to dive the bar.

My EBMMs w/ trems have two springs arranged in a "V".

Yeah me too!

That could also be a double edged sword.

I am glad you were helped and I think I learnt something as well. Good Question sir.
