I have been using Ernie Ball super slinky guitar strings since 1987, on the recommendation of one of my Army NCO's. I liked those so much, I've never used another string for guitar since.

Anyway, I was looking to put a set of flats on one of my Peavey Millenium BXP basses. A friend and fellow musician manages a drum shop, which had Ernie Ball group IV flatwounds in stock. I've always wanted to try Ernie Ball bass strings, so I dove in.

I'm glad I did!! I feel the way about these as I did the super slinky guitar strings I first used. These things are really smooth-some flats have that grippy feel, until you clean them, then play them for awhile. These felt ready to go right out of the package. The feel is really nice-they're not stiff feeling, and do have a slinky kind of a feel (even though these are not the slinky flatwounds.) They allow a wide range of tones as well. Better than most other sets I've tried, and I can get them in the light gauge I like.

One last thing; another bass site insists these strings are just repackaged D'addario Chromes flatwounds. Sorry, I've used the extra light Chromes, and I can tell you, they are not the same! I do like D'addario, but the Ernie Ball flats in my humble opinion are much better. I'll be buying these again. In fact, now I can't wait to try the extra slinky bass strings for my bass that uses roundwounds!

Great job on great strings Ernie Ball!
