In GC on Sunday-no Saturday (dang holiday weekends), tried out a JPX. Didn't care much for it, but then again the action was way too high, so not fair to give a review. Then I grabbed the BFR Luke that was hanging next to it, and WOW, that one kicked butt! Running into a JVM205 (rig I use), lots of smooth crunch, raging metal tones, and nice cleans, very versatile-like my ASS, only heaveier with active pups. Too bad I was just buying monitors-might have thot about taking her home. Jeez these MM guitars are nice!

I tried out the JPX and thought it was simply incredible but the action was also WAY too high also. Trying it out got me thinking though, I think I'm going to go with the standard first. While the painted neck wasn't sticky like other necks, Its still a big adjustment for me to make too soon. Does the standard JP6 come with a satin finish on the neck like the Axis SS?

There's no finish on the standard JP6 neck. It's gunstock oiled, though. So it's Super Smooth!

Funny, I tried out a JPX and a regular Luke, and the action on the JPX was VERY low (way too low for my taste, you could barely bend strings it was so low) but that wasn't what bothered me about it, what bothered me was that the "neck" pickup was about 3 and a half feet away from where it should be, I hated the way the neck pup sounded.

But the Luke felt amazing, sounded amazing, perfect action, perfect setup, almost perfect pickups...

I want one...

Even though it is such a simple and minor thing the way the action is on a guitar makes all the world of difference. I never go by the setup in a store as if everything feels right and sounds right then you can just get it set to play the way you like. I never hold the set up against a guitar company as who the hell knows what weather conditions the shipment had to go through to get there.
