Hi everyone, been quite a while since I have posted here. Hope all is well with you all.
I just have one quick question, is it possible to replace the bridge Emg 85x on my luke with a Emg 89x.
I'm looking to use the split option to engage single coil for the bridge and I see that the pu comes with a push /pull pot
Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a good idea to me if you find you miss the bridge single coil option. Also it will give you the single bridge & middle pickup option which is handy.

Open up the control cavity and see what's inside. I forget if the True Gold Luke used the quick disconnects on the EMG pickups or not.

Thanks for getting back to me, yeah I thought as much, it's the volume pot and the small preamp board that comes with the 89x that was putting me off. But you reckon it can be done? And splittable? Using my original wiring? Want to make sure before I buy

From the looks of it your have to:
unsolder the volume pot
replace with the new one
unsolder the bridge pickup
install the new one by either clipping the connector or install removable flying leads and soldering to the ebmm pc board.
plug in or solder the leads for the volume know push/pull split.

If you're not sure about what you are doing, you should take the guitar to someone who is knowledgable about electronics and tell them what you want to accomplish.

Hi kimonostereo, thanks again for your help
Here is an email I got from Emg today..

Hello;

*

You’ll have to change the pup cable, and install a p/p pot for output selection.* You’ll also need to change the tone pot as well.* This will be a complicated re-wire.

*

Best Regards,
