Okay, playing outdoor gigs and sweating like crazy has taken a wear and tear on my basses over the years. Recently, I noticed that my truss rod is rusted. Will this pose a problem in making adjustments in the future? If not, what can I clean the rust off it with?
Also, the tops of the coils on my humbucker are also rusted. Will that pose a problem to me in the future?

I'd say no problems on the rust
Cleaning the capstan wheel migth pose a problem though, unless you are willing to remove it, as you are likely to damage the neck wood.
I've heard about tips on removing spots or rust from the pole pieces, but I can't remember them, and anyway the rust won't harm the sound, it just gives your bass some extra mojo:)

The rust on the polepieces can usually be removed with a Scotchbrite pad, like those used in cleaning dishes. Don't use steel wool, as the dust is magnetic and can damage the pickup. I've heard a little clear nailpolish can prevent future buildups.

I have also used cymbal cleaner to remove rust on metal parts of basses, but be careful with that stuff, it will eat your fingers too.

Well, the capstan wheel looks very rustic now, but as long as it is not detrimental to the bass itself I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks for the tips everyone. I appreciate it.
