I'm about setting up my new SR5 because the action was bad when I bought it. In order to lower the strings I need to straighten the neck. Although the neck is not straight, the truss rod can only be moved very hardly clockwise. Now I'm afraid of straighten the neck further because I don't want to damage the truss rod.

What would you recommend to do?

Hi - let's just confirm the situation.
Do you have a back bow (like an archway)
or a forward bow (like a cave) ?

It's still a forward bow and since I have fret buzz starting at the 12th fret, I actually need to straighten the neck a bit more. If I press down the strings at the first and last fret, there are still a couple of mm distance between the string and the 12th fret.

The truss rod of my other basses with such a setup can be moved easier - Is it possible to damage the truss rod although there's still a forward bow?

Thanks!
