Hi there,

I´m Thomas, the owner of the "Red Hot" Stingray on gavs excellent Webpage.

Now I´ve a little problem and I need some help of the community.

I´ve bought a Stingray from 1979. One of the formerly owners had replaced the original trussrod-screw with this one:

I want to rebuild the original screw, but I don´t know how it looks like.
Is someone here who can give me a link to a photo of the original one?




And one of the owners replaced the 3 bolt neckplate with a newer 6 Bolt neckplate!
(The serial No is on the bridge, so I think the 3 bolt neckplate originaly comes without a serial No)

If someone had a 3 bolt neckplate, I´m interested to buy this!

Hi Thomas. Welcome to the Forum.

Perhaps the hex thread on yours has been stripped and holes have been added to the sides to allow it to be turned.

Pic at top is what it should look like. The part number is "M05470" ('Truss Rod Nut Bullet Type').

As to the neck plate, I recently saw one on Ebay. Forum member "Todd4 ta" might have a spare.

Yes, you are right. It could be that the thread is stripped!!

From 76 to early 78, the serials were stamped on the neck plates. Then mid/late 78 they switched to stamping the serials on the bridge.
So it should be a little easier to find a serial-less neck plate.
