I play my EB bass mostly with my fingers. However, lately I'm also using a pick. I notice when using a pick I start to get buzzing on the frets, something that doesn't occur when I play with my fingers. Does this mean I have to adjust the truss rod to get more relief? Or do I need to adjust the action by adjusting the string height from the bridge? Or is there something else going on I'm not aware of?

I'd like to have the option of switching between finger-playing and pick-playing without any fret buzz. I need your expertise all you MusicMan Bass fans! :)

hmm my guess is that you're playing harder with the pick than you normally would when you play fingerstyle. Its either that or your picking closer to the neck. My suggestions would be to try using less attack when you're using a pick, or just try picking closer to the bridge. Hope that helps

In addition to the other pick suggestions, you could try raising your action (bridge saddles) just a tiny bit, like 1/32" as long as it doesn't decrease the playability when playing with your fingers.

I have a bass I play exlusively with a pick, and I have the strings from 1/32-1/16" higher than on my other basses.
