This is a Custom Trans-Green Stingray made in 1992. It features a poplar or ash body with maple top, ala The Van Halen guitar of the era however the VH used a basswood body. It may be the first Stingray with back-loaded electronics.(Pre Anniversary)

A great bass that is a joy to own.

Thats such a cool bass!! Is their an advantage to back loaded electronics, besides making it look so sleek.

Damnit! I hate it when I get drool on my keyboard.

That is one gorgeous bass. Will it be at the open house?

(Note to self: Bring empty Stingray case along if that bass is going to be there.)

Lets try to prod him some more........

I think it was not so much of the advantage but the nice clean look, The Music Man People are just Genius when it comes to design. I was a Hard Core 1976 to 1979 Stingray guy, never liked the early 80 Stingrays at all, then i discovered in 1984 or 1985 what EB had did to them and Man 100% improvement, So now all i own is The Ernie Ball Stingrays, There's just not a better bass.

Wow! A back-routed, quilted Ray with cream binding! Just beautiful.
Even Lord Bongo might like it, in spite of the maple fingerboard! ;)

We made this bass for a country bassist named Dave Fowler who was playing with Lorie Morgan at the time. He apparantly fell on hard times or went with another company. I saw hhim at the NAMM show and he has a signature bass with some small maker.dave did you get this on ebay?

It is the S%%ts when you make guitars for artists and they turn them into cash.

BP,

Yeah, that would suck to build something just for that one person and have them hock it like an off-the-shelf guitar. If that were me, I'd be the homeless guy living in a box, carrying a really sweet Stingray.

I figured it was just me, but I was thinking, "Who is this man, and how does he get custom MMs made for him?"

Maybe I missed a thread early on stating who Musicman Nut is, if noteworthy. Could someone bring me up to speed? All I know is that he has a lot of MMs.

Thanks!
