The tuners on the EBMMs are all the same size right? So if I wanted to get a HipShot and put it on my Sterling, but decided later I'd rather have it on a Bongo, I could switch it no problems, right? Same with any other EBMM combo, right?

Just wanting to make sure that they are the same size.

Thanks Jack. And the rules are valid for what, 20 years, right? So as long as I wait till after July 23rd this year, I'll be good to go.

A HipShot D-Tuner is sacrilege? Since when?

HIPSHOT's are a killer addition to any bass guitar includion our Musicman basses... I have them installed on all my basses and they are every bit as good as stock EBMM tuners...I will say that having that quick and accurate full step drop on my bass string is a blessing at live shows...I always think it is poor performance when the band takes too long to tune between songs, at least have something going on...my rant...anyways, the purist on this forum will shoot you down but there is no extra drilling with the hipshot so...........go for it:D i also routed my '02 stingray for string through and i'm very happy with that too...remember it is your bass

i still say the best mod i ever didi to my stingrays...:) and i don't regret it...will suggest though that you try to find a hipshot d-tuner from the 80s...they are better from my experience, or i just like the lower tuning ratio they offer rather that the high ratio they offer today...personal preference, that's all

the tuners should fit the same on all EBMM basses...to answer your question

I have one on every one of my basses... really cool addition.
and yes, all you have to do is order the one made for EBMM basses, they are all the same.

Take the easy way out and buy and SR5 :p Maybe I could get an A-tuner? :D Are there really no mods necessary? Do they bolt right up so to speak? I had thought about that, but there is really only 1 song we do in drop D so I couldn't justify it before.

Yep, bolts right up. I used to have one on a bass. Never played in Drop D for a single song, but once I had the D-Tuner, I used it a lot. It's amazing how it puts itself there and screams "Use Me". :D

I'm not very adept with drop D. Can I just install D-tuners on ALL my strings?
Sure, Michael Manring does it.

Especially great for playing that last note!

I remember a while back a manufacturer offering a hipshot d-tuner as a factory option. It wasn't EB was it?
