Help! Tuning issue

I have a bongo 5string and am thinking of tuning from BEADG to EADGC but i'm slightly worried about whether the strings can do that and if the neck can take that tension. I know some other people have done this before (steve digiorgio) and I'd like to try it for that high C so is it possible? Do I need to change the action or adjust the trussrod etc?

Are you going to use different (size) strings? Like a 6 sting pack or is there a 5 string pack for that tuning (32 45 65 80 100)? That is how I would do it. Then I would adjust the action depending on what you want. I wouldn't think the trust rod would need adjusting especially if your changing string sizes for that tuning.

So I should use smaller strings compared with thicker strings for tuning down and that should be fine?

Yes I would get a 6 string pack of strings and throw away the B, then see what needs to be adjusted after you put them on.
