Hey Everyone! Its been a long time since I have been here....I had to create a new profile it's been that long.
I bought a beautiful MM StingRay 4 string bass two years ago and just love it to death....however recently it seems that it takes a fair bit of effort to turn the tuning machines on this bass. I have a Fender Jazz bass and the effort to tune that bass is nothing compared to the effort I have to make on my StingRay. This is also something I have noticed over time.
My question is this: Is there required maintenance for your tuning machines, such as lubrication?
That said, I am using new strings (GHS Bass Boomers) and the wrap is really close to the base of the string post. Could this be the source of resistance I am feeling? Anyone else out there notice this problem (if you can call it that)?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Mike
