Hi folks!! Here it is... I need more output from this guitar... don't have money for a new one... so I will change the pickups of my silo spec to get a more modern sound.

I think I'll go with a air norton S for the neck, a fast track 1in the middle,

For the humbucker... I don't know hehe. I read good comment on the tone zone here... for alder body this pickup seems to work pretty well. But I'm tinking about the Dsonic too. but I can't find any info about this one in an alder body.

So I'm turning to you folks!! what do you think??

Tone Zone , fast track 1, air norton S OR
Dsonic, fast track1, air norton S

Many thanks for your help!!

Jeb

ps: Here my rig if that can help.

Live rig: pod pro, marshall 9200 power amp, aphex oral exciter and 4X12 avatar cab with vintage 30.

Rec rig: Peavey rockmaster preamp direct in an echo layla 3g audio interface with revalver MKII

Thanks again

I have the tone zone in my ibanez and the d-sonic in the jp.
I would suggest you get the tone zone, it's got a little less mids in it and I think it sounds better..
I should try it out on the jp some day

+1 for the Tone Zone. Got one in my Silo. A SD Distortion didn't work at all soundwise.

A Di Marzio Breed can do metal easy, but it can also hit on the classic stuff too. Good all around bridge p'up for HSS, imo.

Good!!

The Dsonic is out now...

The breed vs tone zone humm.
I think I'll go with the tone zone for the raw tone I'm looking for.

Thanks for your help!!

The BK pickups would be the best thing...
But the new baby is coming and I'm on a budget.
So I'll stay with the dimarzio options.

I'm done!! :p

I'll go with the tone zone bridge and air norton neck.

I'll be able to dial metal pretty well and I'll keep some of the versatility of the guitar.

I've read somewhere that a bright guitar with an extra high output pickup will give strange result.

Many thanks again!!

We need pics once that axe is modded, fella!

Sounds like a good, established, pickup combo; great choice.

+1, The Tone Zone is great, but not really as much for metal. There are better pickups for that. The breed is more scooped.

Woah! Ghost system in there too? Outstanding effort.

You happy with the system? It's a shortlist of mine which I have yet to commit to

Keep the pics rollin when done, brother!

The graphtech ghost rocks!!!!! :)

I run it through an aphex acoustic Xciter pedal and I can't be more happy.
The battery life is incredible too. For now the silent circuit and the ghost system share the same battery... really cool mod! but with the new pups the silent circuit will go.

For lefty players it's more easy to mod a great guitar... than finding other great guitars hehe.

Ps: if you wanna hear the ghost system, I'have made a latino song for a girl at the office who gives stretching lessons... she wanted an instrumental song with a good tempo. so I used the ghost system for the rythm guitars (far far far away of metal :p ) http://jebelanger.googlepages.com/Custom_order.mp3

cheers!!

Wow! Kudos on all the mods. If you do much more, you'll have to put in some engine management to keep the big turbos from overboosting!

(sorry.....I'm into cars too)

Tonezone or Breed. My Silo has Tonezone (positioned low) Fast track 1 neck and a blue velvet middle for that great out of faze sound.

Someone asked about an X2N in an alder body...... I tried it briefly (warmoth project) and it was crap, but then it's crap in the cheapie Ibanez I put it back in too. Sounds better when the coil is split TBH. All round rubbish pickup, just too damn hot.

Michael Romeo does. It's stock in his Caparison. And I LOVE his tone. I was surprised to find out it was an X2N.:D

edit: oh sorry. his is mahogany bodied...
