Twang Sound with Musicman Guitar?

Hi Folks,

my Musicman Luke with splitable Humbucker is covering a lot of different Guitarsounds. But there is one sound I am missing: The typical Fender Telecaster Twang sound.

I don't like the shaping of the original Fender Telecaster (Body and Neckplate) and since I am a big fan of Musicman Guitars here is my question:

Which Musicman Guitar with which pickup combination sounds like a Fender Telecaster? And looks good though

what he said! i have an Axis Super Sport with mm90s, it has twang but a different kind of twang.

Mind you, Mr. Albert Lee was playing a Tele before he changed for the better to his sig model at Music Man.

I thought the AL was the "Strat Killer" model? I think my ASS does an admirable job of replicating that Tele sound.

From your modded Luke I think it should be easy to get that "twang" by using a bit of EQ. and even add a switch to add the neck pup to any combination then you can have that Neck Bridge position that is on the Tele.

But it's always good to have a new ball

I would say that an albert can take you into the tele field easily (SSS for sure but I definitly love the MM90 version more) or if you are lucky enough to find an Axis Sport with SSS config you should be close to your sonic nirvana

to me, the ASS MM90 is far more than a basic Tele.

As for the AL don't be afraid by the shape it is as comfy as the Luke

Nothing wrong a great tele tone, the tele is an iconic guitar.

I just recently put a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger in the bridge of my AL and I really like it. Gets me a little closer to that tele bite!

I think albert lee would be the one you need. I think the ash body would cause a significant tonal difference compared with your alder luke sound.

I heard that EBMM Albert Lee can cover telecaster range of sound, ,but it can do more than a telecaster. And the shape is even cooler than other guitars around. calm and different.

I'd like to have one of it one day.

The AL with singles has a base plated tele-style pick up in the bridge and has been used for around 20 years by the man who was known as THE tele player in the 70's and 80's. Is the tone exact - probably not, but probably close enough for 98% of the listening population. It depends on how tuned into a specific tele sound you want to hear in your head. Do want it to sound like Gatton, Paisley, Albert Collins, James Burton. keith Richards, Steve Cropper, Chrissy Hinde, early Sid Barret Floyd or just the Jimmy Page solo from stairway?

Body thickness, balance and weight distribution between the two guitars is night and day and would also create small tonal differences. The AL is as comfortable a guitar as there is made. The Tele - to quote Brad Paisley - is a cutting board with a baseball bat and a bunch of strings.

The MM90 Axis Super Sport is a thicker ash body with a maple top, It will also get you twang, but more of a tele on steroids than the Albert. After that its personal preference.

Sorry to ramble, just in a strange mood today. but get the Albert Lee, either singles or 90's and you can't go wrong
