I noticed a straight line in the black finish on the back of my ('95) Sterling when I hold it against the light...
What does that mean?
crappy finish or are Sterling bodys made out of 2 pieces of wood
Does EBMM make bodys out of 2 pieces of wood? (other than SUB I guess??)

Thanx...

Where is the line and what makes you think the sub is made of two pieces of wood?
Unless you are speaking of the neck being different wood than the body.
If you will go to the instruments section it tells of the wood all units are made of.

There are, relatively speaking, very few "one piece" bodies anymore. The line you can see is probably the joint, yup.

Sterlings, like Stingrays and Bongos and nearly everything else, are very seldom made of one piece of wood.

There are exceptions, but mostly not.

Maybe this is just me, but I don't sweat the petty stuff and I don't pet the sweaty stuff. I buy a bass for it's features and performance, not because it's a one or two piece body. As long as the pieces are joined together properly, it shouldn't make any difference in the tone and sustain it produces. As Bovine stated, there are very few one piece anythings anymore that are made from wood, and that includes pine 2x4 studs.

Mobay45 is right ..but guess he's wonderin' cause he's always been told that the Sterling's body was made in one piece ...

It's like smelling a hot dog , eating the hotdog ...which was a good hot dog like anyother ..but then your girl look at you smile and say " so did you like the new Tofu dog's I bought today , bet you couldn't taste a difference" ..

1. Who told you Sterlings were one piece bodies?
2. I don't remember where I read it, but a respected luthier made the comment that a multi-piece body is actually more stable and resistant to warping than a one piece body.
3. Don't hold it against the light :)
