Hi Bart,

Tough to comment ... I can't seem to get the first image to load up ...

I'm no expert, but I have only seen the oval with battery type in any MM I've owned. The concept of a dummy coil isn't unique to MM, so there are certainly a lot of other approaches to achieving the same kind of noise reduction. If you have something else in there it could be from another company.

The stacked pickup is aftermarket - the stock ones have two wires and are single coils not stacked humbuckers. So you're modifying somebody else's wiring.

Do you need a hand with something here?

Hi Bart
I can't help you on this, but wait patiently and I'm sure CS or somebody on the forum will help you.
Beej is offline at the moment he seems to be one of the "electrical experts" on the forum.

Good luck

(Thanks Spud :D )

Wow- that is neat! I've never seen it before! I notice it does say "Patent Pending" whereas the newer one lists the Patent #. Perhaps they tweaked the design to get the patent, or just refined it from a size/usage standpoint.

Anyway, it does seem to be short a blue/violet wire that's on the newer design. Hmmm.

I'm sure Customer Serivce will help you out ... just hang in there! For something of this vintage, they may need to contact Dudley.
