Just wanted to give huge thanks to Blind Lemon and the rest of the S&T related crew for putting on a great event last night.

Highlights, in no particular order include :

  • Getting a chance to see lots of tasty EBMMs together in one place
  • Hearing new endorsee Dario show how flexible a Supersport can be with great rock/jazz/country/blues tones going on...
  • Getting a chance to see lots of Knuckleheads in one place
  • Meeting Beth, even though she takes sneeky photos with her digi camera...
  • Seeing the devil throwing serious shapes, dual with some Knuckleheads and then humiliating a non forum member(!) who had the audacity to blame the guitar (a Sil) for his poor performance!
  • Watching Strummer (a bassist!) win the raffle for a BFR Al and then look confused by the prospect of a tremolo bar! (you have to understand I'm just jealous, Strummer! :p)

Looking forward to next years event! Should get some nametags sorted, and dont let Jamie Humphries out of the room next time though BL ;)

Many thanks again,
Steve / spkirby

Thanks as well from me to BL and the Strings and Things crew for a wonderful evening - had a great time and finally got to put some faces to forum names!

Good food, free bar and some ace musicians. I'll put some photos up later.

We also want to add our thanks - we had an absolutely brilliant time and we are gutted we couldn't stay till the very end. Next year we will book a hotel and stay over :)

We'll put some photos up soon too - and I just want to take this opportunity to say that Strummer that has given Trev first dibs on the AL should he ever sell ;)

A huge thankyou to BL and S&T for everything - including the excellent stand - easily the best in show that attracted huge numbers of people every Duel - and EB for giving us the BFR AL and for allowing Beth to join us :)

P.S. Strummer I have to vet any picture of me BEFORE you put them up!!!

What they all said! :D

Nice to meet many of you that I've swapped ramblings with on here over the past months and years.

Many thanks to all responsible including BP for putting the fancy geetar up for raffle (despite it being won by a bass player!!! ;)) I can imagine the scene on returning home though...

'Look what I won in a raffle today dear'. 'You won that? Oh yes of course you did.....wait until I see your credit card statement....'

Delighted to hear it's going to be an annual bash from now on. Will have to practice my licks to see if I'm brave enough to take on the devil next year!

Great to meet you Beth. Hope you had a good time in Europe and especially in the UK including the cricket at the Oval. If the rules are still a bit hazy, here's a brief summary.

The Rules of Cricket
as Explained to a foreign visitor

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in, goes out, and when he's out, he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When both sides have been in and out including the not-outs, that's the end of the game.

Howzat? :)

I've just remembered someone else I wanted to thank -

Big thanks to DaveB who also had a massive hand in organising the bash and keeping us all happy. And also for providing Mr Horsepower and the Live Earth Silo for the unwashed masses at the show to ogle over. Looked absolutely amazing having them in glass cases and the very front of the S&T stand. Had it not been for the fact that the beer was free, we would have bought you a drink. Next time we catch up maybe :D

Wow - what a buzz that was!!

I can only echo what everybody has said,
Great to meet a whole load of the knuckleheads.

I was practicing my acceptance speech as Beth drew the winning ticket as she said"and the winner of the AL is Sssssssssss .......... trummer!!

After the bash I walked with Stummer to the underground and personally recited the mantras of the ALOC and showed him the ALOC handshake. The decoder ring and handbook will shortly follow.

Big thanks to Pete and the crew of Strings n Things - a nice bunch of "lads", They had been working hard all week setting up the stand, and a lot of organising went into that - a lot of work we don't see. (the moving of the gear was a logistical nightmare.) - Thanks DaveB for all the hardwork too.

Big thanks to Beth for attending and also huge thanks to all involved at Ernie Ball.

The new endorsee was awesome playing the Axis - played all styles - and opened my eyes to how the Axis can handle Country licks.

The guys who got up and played "mini sets" were awesome- especially the big dude from Norwich - I MEAN AWESOME - and a real nice genuine guy to talk to (someone remind me of his name?).

.... and last but not least "The Devil" - man you make me laugh I'd love to have a few beers one night - you got all the chops too!

I can only say THANKS to Mr Lemon and the rest of the guys at S&T, I had a fab time!

Also it was great getting faces on the forum handles, damn if we aren't a real nice bunch!

the Bushmen, the Devil and the other performers, stellar all the way!

Drinks were good, food was cood, the company couldn't have been better.

And then, of course, I won the guitar!

Now, I didn't sleep more than 2-3 hours, I was (and still is) totally freaked out, I played and played though the night, an amazing guitar!

I can't think straight, I never ever win anything at all, and this time, hell I just thought £50 to clb was a good deed, and I was preparing to congratulate the winner, and then wonderful Beth draws one of my tickets! Haven't landed from that one yet...

And for those who missed the bash, here's the coolest Al ever. Pics aren't great, but you get the point I think...

Spud - Cheers fella, glad I'm not the only nutter in the world! - you were on fire sir, and I forgive you for being short!

Jamie Humphries - hang in there fella and get some home time- hope it gets better

Wow, I'm posting on the guitar side. Never thought I'd do that, but if it's good enough for Strummer...

I had an awesome time. Great hanging out with all the forum peeps I've had internet conversations with over the years but never actually met. We should definitely do name tags next time. The devil was hilarious, I think I might have to upscale my level of sinning if it means hanging out with him in the afterlife. I never realised the devil was from up north! Shoulda known.

But the highlight was definitely witnessing Strummer win the BFR Albert Lee. Or should I say the highlight was witnessing the looks on the guitarists faces as a bass player won the AL. Awesome! So I have to know, were those photos of the AL taken in Sweden and did you actually manage to talk Ryan Air into letting that beauty board the plane as carry-on luggage? The case weighed more than Magnus (not that I tried to lift him). You'll have to fill me in on the travel details and whether you had to buy the guitar a separate ticket. Trev may have first dibs on it, but I know for a fact Magnus will be getting buried with that guitar, so you might have to buy a shovel.

Cheers BlindLemon, S&T, and everyone involved in organising the event. You "rock"!

Hey everyone!

Just a beautiful day here in Shoreham at the Strings and Things office, just got in after yesterday's cricket match -- what an exciting and cultural experience! Thank you, Rod and Nigel, for the seat, it was loads of fun!

I cannot express enough in words how much fun the bash was. It was so fantastic to meet all of you and be able to hang out with great friends, great food, great music and great beer! My favorite was watching the devil duel with various party goers - did anyone figure out that the devil was actually Albert Lee himself? ;) Thanks to all for your generous donations to the CLB Foundation and I am sure Strummer will have many guitarist friends in the near future, hahaha. :D

Most of all, thank you to Pete and the whole Strings and Things crew, Dave B for the backline, the special guitars and carrying that box all the way to the hotel! Thank you, Big Poppa, for the BFR guitar donation and the lovely trip. It really was educational and fun! I'll have my photo assignment posted for you and everyone to enjoy as soon as I get home.

Hope to see you all again very soon! European Knuckleheads unite!!! You guys are great friends and the best!!!
Cheers! Ciao! Au revior!
Beth
