I'm not sure, but I think our friend here wants to know the tonal differences between a SR5 and a SR5 with a Lakland preamp, and generally how it sounds, does it work, has anybody tried it, etc. Though I'm not sure. Help from the elders seems appropriate.

My friend put a Nordstrand pick up to replace Music Man pick up AND he put an Aguilar 3 band pre-amp, he likes it alot.
the Demeter pre amp should sound great and to put a neck pick up in should be ok too, but if you can, try to somehow have the new pick-up above the strings and loose but wired in so you can move it around to hear where the best place is for it before you cut into the Sting Ray body.... does that make sense?

you can go here: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to translate what I wrote above.

best,
peter

Looks like that went through Babelfish. I think it means...

Hi. I'm thinking about modifying my Stingray 5. I am going to swap the pickup for a Lakland or something like that, and the preamp for one made by Demeter. What will that sound like? I would like the opinions of more than one wise person.

"thread pick up in form such as lakland" could also possibly mean he wants to install an extra J pickup, I suppose.
