I have a Steve Morse Y2D and was wondering how necessary it is to reapply wax to the neck every so often. I've had it for 3 years and haven't done anything to the neck except oil the fret board and I really like how it feels, but will reapply whatever I need to if I risk damaging it by just leaving it.

If you don't think it needs it, don't worry about it. There are some people here who do it every six months, some once a year, and some almost never.

Had my ASS over 5 years and I have never treated neck, still feels great as the day I had it

Over time the sweat from your hand will dry out the wood. Some like/prefer it that way with a nice 'worn in' feel, but if you want the neck to retain it's original feel / lustre, then it's a good idea to go through the oil/wax procedure from time to time (depending on use). I do this every 6 to 8 months, using the standard '1000grit sandpaper', 'Murphys oil soap', 'Tru-oil', 'Gunstock wax' routine. These days I'm, a bit OCD about the upkeep though, whereas years ago I hardly bothered with it. I think I'd owned my Luke 1 for many years before I re-oiled the neck. Whatever floats your boat....

I use EB Wonder Wipes to clean them every so often... Keep it clean and play it often and it really takes care of itself. I've never done anything more to my 1996 Axis.

I keep mine clean and lightly use wonder wipes at string changes. Once a year i do the Murphy's, Oil & Wax treatment.

I do it every six months or so with my EBMM guitars but I prefer a more slick feeling on the neck. So it's really a preference. I don't use Wonder wipes for every string change, still think too much oil on the fretboard is not a good thing, kind of loosens up frets with excessive use.
